Show Description

If you are looking for something a little bit different but music is important…

Oliver’s Army Radio Show is a weekly two hour show with me, Richard Oliver,  the main aim of the show is to expand the listeners’ musical horizons. Playing tunes not often heard, or ever heard before (and may not ever want to hear again!) as well as some of the classics. No genres are off limits with music from the last 60 years. The show has been running for nearly two years.

Each week there is a featured classic album from my collection that might not have been a mega chart hit but deserves to be heard. Past ones have included From Elvis in Memphis by Elvis Presley, Disintegration by the Cure, Baja Sessions by Chris Isaak, Three Feet High and Rising by De La Soul, Breakfast in America by Supertramp and Different Class by Pulp.

Some weeks are themed, past specials have featured (and likely to be repeated) Yacht Rock, James Bond, Funk and Soul, Radio, Space, the Moon, New York, 1969, 1971 and Half-Rice/Half Chips – the name I use for my favourite musical decade from 1975 – 1985.

Also, often venturing down the rabbit hole of related tunes by a certain producer or musician. The Oliver’s Army Radio Show is a musical education and discovery. And sadly, when there is the passing of an important musician, there will always be a tribute.

So, if you want a show that doesn’t just play the same music you can find on most stations try this one. I don’t take myself too seriously, it’s as professional as an amateur can be from my home made studio (Garage Studios) in rural Herefordshire near the Welsh border in the UK; I just want to share my passion for music with others.

Please feel free to check out previous shows in the archive at:  https://www.mixcloud.com/oliversarmyradioshow/
